darktable 1.6.8 arrives for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems with support for new standard color matrices, white balance presets, noise profiles, and raw speed improvements.

According to the attached release notes, darktable 1.6.8 is here to add raw speed improvements to various digital cameras, including Canon EOS M3, Canon EOS 5Ds R, Nikon 1 J5, Panasonic DMC-G7 (4:3 aspect ratio only), Panasonic TZ71, Fujifilm X-T10, Olympus TG-4, Pentax K-S2, and Leica VLUX1 (4:3 aspect ratio mode).

Additionally, it adds clipping and santiy check for custom aspect ratios, the ability to read the model of lenses from an XMP file, support for handling special cases of Canon lens recognition, general cleanups, as well as white balance presets for the Samsung NX500 and Panasonic TZ71 digital cameras.

"We are happy to announce that darktable 1.6.8 has been released. Please only use our provided packages ('darktable-1.6.8.*' tar.xz and dmg) not the auto-created tarballs from github ('Source code,' zip and tar.gz). The latter are just git snapshots and will not work," reads the announcement. "So now go out, enjoy the summer and take a lot of photos!"

New standard color matrices and noise profiles

Furthermore, darktable 1.6.8 brings new standard color matrices for the Canon EOS M3, Canon EOS 5Ds R, Nikon 1 J5, Fujifilm X-T10, Panasonic DMC-G7, Olympus TG-4, and Pentax K-S2 digital cameras, as well as new noise profiles for the Canon EOS 5Ds R, Fujifilm HS50EXR, and Sony ILCE-5100 cameras.
