Dark Souls 3 has just received quite a few new gameplay details from its developer, From Software, offering insight into basic mechanics like the weapons and their durability, summoning and invasions, the New Game+ mode, and much more.

Dark Souls 3 is the next installment in the long-running role-playing game series made by Japanese studio From Software. The tough-as-nails titles have developed a cult following, and millions of fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming iteration to see what Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has planned for them.

After sharing some brief details, screenshots, and trailers in recent months, From Software has now talked with GameInformer about the features of its new RPG.

Check out some fresh information about Dark Souls 3

First up, weapon durability is going to get tweaked. According to Miyazaki, Dark Souls 2's weapons break a bit too easily while those in Dark Souls 1 are a bit too sturdy. He hopes that, with the third installment, a balance can be found.

There's a bigger emphasis on making things convenient for players, and this extends to the Fast Travel system. It will be available at the opening portions of the game, so fans shouldn't worry about having to go through the big environments.

The game is also going to allow for an easier reallocation of stat points for a character. Miyazaki hasn't decided if the Soul Vessel item is going to make a comeback but the RPG will allow fans to vary their builds without having to start a new character.

The New Game+ mode is going to follow most of the mechanics seen in Dark Souls 2, although bonfire ascetics will not make a comeback.

Summoning and invading are done through the same system seen in Dark Souls 1 and 2, and use soul level for matching, not soul memory. Players will not be locked behind consumable items for invasions, meaning they can do so without worrying about things like cracked red orbs.

Last but not least, the hidden walls are going to return but they can be activated by attacking them, not by pressing the interact button like in Dark Souls 2.

The new game is set to appear in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so you can bet that more details are going to debut soon enough.
