Planar has managed to impress us with quite a few interesting offerings for the digital signage segment over the past few years, and now, the company's back with yet another such solution, namely the Planar d82L model.

As the name suggests, what we're talking about here is an 82-inch LCD display that, beside quite a wide display size, also sports a very slim form factor, thus making it a prime solution for numerous types of public venues.

So, the device has a depth of just around 3.9 inches, which means that it can really make the most of the limited space available in high-traffic venues, while its metal design and protective glass provide a very good level of protection, that will endure over time.

Another very interesting detail worth mentioning is related to the fact that the Planar d82L offers fast and easy access to all of its built-in electronics, via a lockable flip-panel found on its top size called the AccessConsole.

In this manner, should some component be damaged, maintainable crews will be able to have the display up and running quite quickly, without having to remove the actual LCD display, which would be a much riskier operation (as far as the integrity of the respective panel is concerned).

Plus, this distributed architecture will also make installation a lot easier, while also reducing the risk of failure over time, due to overheating, caused by the heat emitted by the LCD panel.

Furthermore, the display solution also sports a built-in MediaMount for adding additional hardware (including media players) right within the AccessConsole, while also sport extensive networking capabilities.

As we pretty much expected, Planar has not provided any significant pricing details for this thing, given the fact that it will most likely retail through its special channels targeting professional installers.
