After announcing yesterday the release of Slackware-based SlackEX Build 160413 distro, Linux developer Arne Exton is back today, April 14, 2016, with a new version of his CRUX-based CruxEX operating system.

Based on the latest CRUX 3.2 Linux operating system, CruxEX Live Build 160414 is here to upgrade the base kernel package from version 4.3.0 to the latest and most advanced Linux 4.5.1 branch, which has been optimized by Arne Exton to support even more hardware components.

"I have replaced the original CRUX kernel with 'my' special kernel 4.5.1-cruxex, with support for 'extra everything,'" said Arne Exton in today's release announcement. "CruxEX 3.2 64 bit Linux Live CD/USB is based on CRUX 3.2 (latest version, released 151123), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS."

Now shipping with the latest Nvidia 361.42 graphics driver

It is important to mention that CruxEX Live Build 160414 also updates several of the core components and applications, including the Mozilla Firefox web browser, GIMP image editor, Wicd network connection manager, and Gparted partition editor. Additionally, the Live OS includes a bunch of compilers that will help you install software from sources. For now, the distro remains based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment.

The latest Nvidia 361.42 graphics driver for GNU/Linux operating system has been bundled in the CruxEX Live Build 160414 ISO images as well, offering users an out-of-the-box Nvidia GPU experience. CruxEX Live only works on 64-bit systems, and it's distributed as both a bootable ISO image and a zip containing files needed to deploy the distribution on a USB flash drive, which you can use to save your live sessions.
