It's not a confirmation, but it's interesting info

Some very credible Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 rumors have surfaced, and they seem to be the most reliable that have been revealed until now.

Half-Life 3 rumors have been going around since the launch of the previous game back in 2004, but none of them ever came true. Some of them were very believable, but in the end, we were left with just two episodes that didn’t even help conclude the story.

Getting Half-Life 3 seems like the next logical step from Valve, but this is a company that does things its own way. We might very well get something else entirely, without ever getting answers for what happened. There is no guarantee that Valve is even considering working on a new Half-Life game, but that would make the newly discovered information pretty weird.

Two explanations

Valve just launched the SteamVR Performance Test Tool, which makes use of a Valve's Aperture Robot Repair VR demo. This happens to be powered by the Source 2 engine, which until now was seen only in Dota 2. Nothing stands out, but the community has been restless and dug into the folders and files and found numerous mentions of Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 in there.

The guys from Valve News Network put together all the evidence in a single video, and it's really compelling. There is no denying that those files are in there, which begs the obvious question. Why are the files there in the first place?

Valve knows all too well that users are going to take the SteamVR Performance Test Tool apart, which means two things. Either it's true and they just happened to forget to change the names of the files, or it's not true, and they are just massively trolling the gaming community.

Maybe Valve's plan is to tease the community for a decade and just release the game in a random afternoon. In any case, even if it's just the studio messing with the gamers, it's high time to see a new game from Valve.
