Microsoft launched Cortana on Android and iOS devices in early December, but the Redmond-based company confirmed its personal digital assistant would be available on Cyanogen OS smartphones as well.

Since Android and iOS devices have already been able to download Cortana, only Cyanogen OS-powered smartphones remained to be updated with the new feature.

“This is just the start of our partnership as Cortana will be rolled out to other Cyanogen OS powered devices early next year with even greater functionality, and we look forward to doing even more together in the future,” said Microsoft last month.

Today, a new update coming from OnePlus is available for download. The update is only delivered to OnePlus One smartphones powered by Cyanogen OS 12.1, so it's not yet available to other devices yet.

The update hasn't been confirmed by OnePlus yet, but many OnePlus One owners report on the company's forum that they have successfully captured the upgrade.

Security patches and bug fixes are included in the update too

A small changelog is available for the update as well, but aside from the new feature mentioned here, there might be others that haven't been listed.

So Cyanogen OS update 12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 is a maintenance release that provides bug fixes and critical security updates for OnePlus One.

Also, it adds deeply integrated features for Cortana, including voice activation and the ability to toggle different settings. The update is about 70MB in size, so it's not a large download.

OnePlus One won't be the only Cyanogen OS-powered handset that receives Cortana integrated features, but it's the first to get Microsoft's personal digital assistant.

It's also worth mentioning that Cortana comes to OnePlus as a standalone application, which means that those who don't like it can always uninstall it and continue using Google Now.

So there you have it, folks, Cyanogen OS-powered devices are starting to get Microsoft's Cortana personal digital assistant. If you have a OnePlus One smartphone, you might want to check for the update.
