On October 3, 2016, Corebird developer Timm Bäder released a new maintenance update for the native Linux Twitter client, the third one in the 1.3 stable series of the open-source software.

It's been a month and a half since the release of the major Corebird 1.3 update, and Timm Bäder managed to push three maintenance updates since then. The first one, Corebird 1.3.1, was announced on September 6, 2016, bringing a total of seven bug fixes, and the second one, Corebird 1.3.2, on September 25.

Corebird 1.3.3 is here as the latest and most advanced version of the Twitter client for GNU/Linux operating system, adding better support for the new, longer tweet format implemented by Twitter, which, in fact, was added in the Corebird 1.3.2 release last week for the first time.

Moreover, Corebird 1.3.3 attempts to make the calculations of tweet lengths for whitespace-only tweets work correctly, check for duplicate entries in media arrays, properly escape "&" characters in user mentions, as well as use the right NSFW (Not Safe for Work) status of a tweet that includes images.

It's now possible to send tweets with multiple images attached

Besides the new features and improvements listed above, Corebird 1.3.3 also addresses a couple of bugs reported by users since Corebird 1.3.2. The first one is a crash that occurred when attempting to send tweets that contained multiple attached images, while the second one is a fix for the tweet length calculation of quoted tweets.

"This previously led to tweets getting rejected by the server even though Corebird claimed they were fine," says Timm Bäder in the GitHub release notes. Therefore, we recommend that you upgrade your Corebird installation to version 1.3.3 as soon as possible. The sources are available for download right now via our website.
