The small brothers of the Skylake-S series, the Core i3 and the Pentium, will not be forgotten until the turn of the year, as they will be launched just a month after the main series.

Very soon, Intel is going to launch the first Skylake-S processors at Gamescom in Germany. The new unlocked Core i5-6600K and i7-6700K SKUs will be accompanied by the Z170 chipset, which will be the first available from the 100 series. The rest of the desktop Core i5 and i7 lineup will be released on August 30 and will come with the Core i5-6400, i5-6400T, i5-6500, i5-6500T, i5-6600, i5-6600T, i7-6700 and i7-6700T SKUs.

Also, it seems that at the end of August / beginning of September, Intel wants to expand its chipset lineup of B150, H110, H170, Q150 and Q170 models. Sources at CPU World state that the launch date has been established as September 1, 2015. To complete the lineup, the chip maker will also announce the Skylake-based Core i3 and Pentium dual-core CPUs.

Cheaper and infinitely more eco-friendly than the Skylakes

The new Core i3 with standard power SKUs are the i3-6100, i3-6300 and i3-6320, and there will also be Core i3-6100T and i3-6300T low-power processors. Keeping with the tradition, Intel will continue to offer two lines of Core i3 microprocessors, possibly with different cache sizes and/or GPU types.

The new Pentium CPUs are G4400 and G4400T, G4500, G4500T and G4520. It appears that Core i3 model numbers with "T" suffix are rated at 35 Watt TDP, while the remaining SKUs have 65 Watt TDP.

Not to clutter the new Skylake series and especially not to disrupt the sales of Skylake-S models, Intel decided to make the new Pentiums and i3s available in stores nearly a month later, at the end of September. The new H110, Q150 and Q170 chipsets will arrive in the same fashion, placed a bit later in stores to ensure maximum sales for Intel's high-end Z170.
