Samsung has finally put an end to rumors concerning its new flagships by sending out invites for a new Unpacked event on February 25 where the company will take the wraps off the brand-new Galaxy S9.

The teaser photo that the South Korean firm released provides us with a glimpse into what’s to come with the Galaxy S9, and without a doubt, the camera will receive some of the most dramatic upgrades.

Samsung says the camera will be “reimagined,” and even though no specifics were provided, the rumor mill has been full of speculation on how the company could improve the Galaxy lens for the 2018 generation.

Major hardware upgrades

It’s believed the Samsung Galaxy S9 will finally make the switch to a dual-camera system, but it’s believed only the bigger plus model will boast it, while the standard 5.8-inch version will stick with a single-lens shooter. There are signs, however, that the device will be equipped with a new ISOCELL camera sensor, which will enable features like slow-motion video at 480 fps, as well as variable aperture between f/1.5 and f/2.4.

While Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped on the specifications of the Galaxy S9, the South Korean firm has invested heavily in the hardware side of its flagship phones, with the camera in particular receiving substantial upgrades since the release of the Galaxy S7.

With the 2018 model, however, Samsung will finally make the transition to a dual-camera system for the S-series line of phones, after the Note 8 pioneered this feature last year.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the United States and the latest-generation Exynos chipsets for European models. The 5.8-inch model is likely to come with 4GB RAM, while the bigger sibling would feature 6GB RAM. Both will be equipped with a headphone jack.

A separate leak that reached the web in mid-January pointed out that the Samsung Galaxy S9 could go up on pre-order on March 1, while the first units would be shipped on March 16.
