We've finally come full circle and we're back in 1982

Commodore 64 is coming back, as a mini-PC, ready to take over the world one more time, but this time it's for real.

We’ve been hearing news about the return of a Commodore 64-like PC for many years, but those rumors never seem to come true. To be fair, a number of clones have popped up over the years, but nothing revolutionary or that could inspire a new generation of gamers and PC users.

Let’s not forget that Commodore 64 is considered to be one the bestselling PCs of all time, and that is something tough to beat. To put things in perspective, the original Commodore was launched 36 years ago.

The age alone raises a very interesting conundrum for the people trying to sell it. The customers that do remember it might not be inclined to buy the new one now. They would be in their 30s, 40s, or 50s, and we all know that those generations have very different interests. On the other hand, the melancholy effect might be just what the new Commodore needs.

What is it really?

Even if THE64 Mini is a replica of the original, at half the size, it’s still safe to say that it’s a worthy successor, especially since it comes packed with 64 games, and all of them are at least 25 years old.

It’s a weird combination of new hardware and old games, but it might just work. It can output 720p, and it even has a Pixel Perfect mode for people that want that sweet 4:3 ratio.

Of course, it also comes with a fully functioning keyboard, but more interestingly with its own joystick, just like the previous one. It will be fascinating to see what we can do with the system, besides playing old games. There is no hint of the UI and other capabilities, but we can only hope that it can do more.

The Commodore 64 Mini is built by Retro Games Ltd, it has a price of $69.99, and it should become available on March 29th.
