14 DAY TRIAL // Verizon and Motorola announced earlier today the upcoming availability of two new Android smartphones, DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2.
Both devices will be available for purchase in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless, beginning October 29.
One of the main selling points of the DROID Turbo 2 is the so-called “shatterproof display.” Although this particular device is said to be the US version of Moto X Style, it comes with several upgrades that should make it more appealing to Android fans.
Moto ShatterShield is one of these upgrades, which assures owners that the phone's display won't shatter in every-day use. Basically, you can drop the DROID Turbo 2 on concrete or any other hard surface, and Motorola guarantees that the display won't shatter.
According to Motorola, the phone's display consists of five layers that work together to absorb every shock that the DROID Turbo 2 is subjected to.
In addition, the 5.4-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display is flexible, so it will bend instead of breaking when a certain force is applied to it.
A few dents, but no shattering
To highlight the sturdiness of the DROID Turbo 2's display, Motorola announced that it would offer customers who purchase the smartphone a four-year warranty that covers the display against shattering and cracking.
The folks over at CNN have just conducted a test that, once again, highlights DROID Turbo 2's sturdiness against drops.
They have tried to shatter the phone's display by dropping it on concrete, and running it over by a bicycle. On top of that, the DROID Turbo 2 found itself under a horse's hoof at some point.
The result is simply astounding, as the display didn't shatter or crack when subjected to these tests. However, the phone's metal frames have been dented after so many drops on concrete.
The screen also displays some dents, but it did not shatter so the phone can be used until it's replaced. Check out the video below and be amazed.
