Today, November 22, 2016, Clonezilla Live and GParted Live developer Steven Shiau has had the great pleasure of announcing the release of a new stable build of his popular disk cloning and imaging live system.

Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-5 is now the most advanced version of the open-source and free disk cloning solution based on the Clonezilla partition or disk clone tool. It's the first release to use a kernel from the Linux 4.8 series, namely 4.8.7, and includes all the latest package versions from the Debian Sid repository as of November 22, 2016.

A handful of new packages made their way into the Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-5 stable release, among which we can mention the iftop real-time network bandwidth monitoring tool, sysstat performance monitoring tools collection, as well as p7zip-full, a command-line port of the 7Zip archiving utility.

gen-rec-iso gets new options, Catalan language translation updated

Among other improvements that landed in the Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-5 release, we can mention that the gen-rec-iso utility received a "-k1" option in ocs-sr, the Catalan language translation has been updated, and the live system's usability was improved by fixing an error that occurred when choosing the "Enter_shell" option.

"Choose "Enter_shell" should not give any error. This should fix the issue reported at: https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Clonezilla_live/thread/a44f2814. Thanks to Cyril Ganchev and Bertrando for reporting this issue," said Steven Shiau in today's announcement.

Last but not least, Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-5 addresses a timezone issue reported by users from previous releases of the live system, and removes the partprobe command after ocs-scan-disk, as it delayed the appearance of a GUID Partition Table (GPT) partition in /proc/partitions under certain circumstances.
