Clonezilla Live and GParted Live creator Steven Shiau announced the availability of a new stable release of Clonezilla Live, versioned 2.5.0-25, bringing the latest GNU/Linux technologies and up-to-date software components.

Based on the Debian Sid repository as of February 20, 2017, Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 is now powered by the Linux 4.9.6 kernel and ships with a bunch of new packages, including Nmap, bicon, sshpass, keychain, and monitoring-plugins-basic.

A Slovak language file created by Ondrej Dzivy Balucha and a Spanish translation made by Pablo Hinojosa Nava and Juan Ramón Martínez were also added in this release, along with a new local boot menu in the UEFI version of Clonezilla Live.

Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 also comes with a new "-noabo" option for the ocs-sr component to allow other users to access the image, not only the owner, as well as the ability to detect if the terminal supports color output.

Thanks to Matt Broadstone, a patch is now available for an issue that made Clonezilla Live fail to use the serial number with space, and the whiptail package has been updated in Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 to improve handling of long strings in the menu.

"Package whiptail was updated by applying the patch from upstream which improves handling of long strings in whiptail menu: https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/newt.git/commit/?id=10bbfd2837eb5ad87416ed2a648231a2a9b7c6fc," reads the announcement.

Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 is now available for 64-bit, 32-bit, and 32-bit PAE

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 includes an under-the-hood improvement that forces it to wait for partition names that contain an extra p (e.g. nvme0n1p1) to take effect before creating a partition table on the respective disk drive.

Clonezilla Live 2.5.0-25 is now available for download from our website as Live ISO images supported by the 64-bit, 32-bit, and 32-bit PAE hardware architectures. This being the most advanced version, it is recommended to everyone who wants a free and open source solution for disk cloning and imaging tasks.
