Claws Mail, the lightweight and open-source GTK+ based email client for Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems, was updated recently to version 3.15.0, a maintenance update that adds new functionalities and addresses a lot of bugs.

Claws Mail 3.15.0 comes more than four months after the first point release to the 3.14 series of the application, and among the new features implemented we can mention a bunch of options that should help users configure Claws Mail when opening a selected message, such as checkboxes on the Display and Summaries page of Preferences.

The compose window was updated to display the total size of email attachments on the Attachments tab, as well as the Bcc to the headers drop-down list. The Folder list was updated as well, this time to allow users to copy top-level folders, which are created as regular folders in the target mailbox, according to the release notes.

Claws Mail 3.15.0 also adds support for SVG themes that sport icon scaling capabilities, requiring the libRSVG 2.40.5 or newer library to be installed. A "Mark all unread [recursively]" option was added to the folder context menu, the main window menu and toolbar, as well as the message list menu.

New hidden preferences and toolbar actions

Among other changes added to the Claws Mail 3.15.0 release, we can mention a bunch of new hidden preferences for setting QuickSearch, auto-filled header values, and tags, several new toolbar actions to mark or unmark messages, delete duplicate messages, etc., and an up-to-date GData plugin to require libgdata 0.17.2 or newer.

The TNEF parser plugin was also updated to make use of an external libytnef library, along with the vCalendar plugin, which now uses the libical 2.0.0 or newer external library, as well as the Mail Archiver plugin, which is now capable of supporting the compression formats supported by the libarchive 3.2.2 library.
