Microsoft has always had an issue with its flagship smartphones, which have been a bit behind in terms of specs as compared to other devices in the same tier range.

But the new Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL don't have this issue anymore since Microsoft stuffed in some of the latest technologies available on the market.

Hardware is very important to a large chunk of customers, and Microsoft has finally decided to make it worthwhile for those who decide to go for its new flagships.

So, if you're still on the fence on whether or not to get the Lumia 950 XL or perhaps an Android high-end smartphone like the Galaxy Note 5, here are a few things that you might want to know before making your purchase.

First of all, both Lumia 950 XL and Galaxy Note 5 come with large 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen displays that support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, and feature Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

The main difference between the two when it comes to hardware is the chipset inside. The Galaxy Note 5 is equipped with arguably the most powerful processor on the market, the Exynos 7420 octa-core CPU, clocked at 2.1GHz.

Android or Windows Phone? Choose wisely

On the other hand, Microsoft has decided to go with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 CPU clocked at 2GHz. Another difference would be the fact that Lumia 950 XL packs 3GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Note 5 features no less than 4GB of RAM.

Another strong point of the Lumia 950 XL is the 20-megapixel PureView camera on the back, which features Carl Zeiss optics, OIS (optical image stabilization), autofocus, triple-LED RGB flash, and 4K video recording.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 boasts a 16-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, OIS (optical image stabilization), and 4K video recording.

It's also worth mentioning that, while both smartphones pack 32GB of storage, Lumia 950 XL also includes a microSD card slot for memory expansion, whereas the Galaxy Note 5 lacks one.

Also, Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is powered by a removable 3,340mAh battery, while the Galaxy Note 5 comes with a non-removable 3,000mAh battery.

Then there's the problem of price, since Lumia 950 XL costs only $650 outright, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is still priced at $700.
