Yesterday, we reported the release of the Cinnamon 3.2 desktop environment for the upcoming Linux Mint 18.1 "Serena" GNU/Linux distribution, and it looks like the first point release is already available.

That's right, Cinnamon 3.2.1 was released today, November 8, 2016, bringing much-needed fixes and improvements that are vital to have a reliable and stable desktop experience before Cinnamon 3.2 is ready to conquer your Linux Mint installations, or any other distro that includes Cinnamon on its software repositories, such as Arch Linux.

The first Cinnamon 3.2 point release includes fixes from Michael Webster, Niko Krause, and Clement Lefebvre. Among these, we can mention better positioning of the flag render for the keyboard applet, along with proper scaling of the flag's size to match both the preferences and panel.

"Monkey patch some St.Icon methods to the EmblemedIcon class so we can use the existing applet icon sizing calculations by pretending we're just another icon hanging around, getting things done," said Michael Webster in the GitHub release notes for Cinnamon 3.2.1.

Sound and menu applet improvements

Cinnamon 3.2.1 also includes fixes for some menu applet warnings that were caused by keyboard navigation, adds an "upload-system-info" button to the Info Settings, along with tooltips to the "Upload" button, and addresses various runtime warnings in the sound applet.

If you can't wait until the Linux Mint 18.1 "Serena" operating system hits the streets later this month or in early December, you can download the Cinnamon 3.2.1 source archive right now from our website and compile the desktop environment yourself for your GNU/Linux distribution. Until then, more Cinnamon 3.2 revisions could be released if new bugs are discovered.
