Chromium evangelist François Beaufort shares today on his Google+ page yet another upcoming feature for Google's Linux-based Chrome OS operating system for Chromebooks, a new Certificate section.

Designed mostly for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate connoisseurs and users who want to verify the security of a certain website, the Certificate section of Chrome OS will be implemented in the Page Info pop-up of the Chrome web browser and can be enabled using the chrome://flags/#show-cert-link flag in the latest Chrome Canary update.

"If you're an SSL certificate aficionado, you'll be glad to learn that the Chrome team is experimenting with a Certificate section in the Page Info bubble," says François Beaufort. "Enable the chrome://flags/#show-cert-link flag, go to a "secure" website (URL starts with "https") and hover over the certificate link in Page Info. Clicking on it brings you to the Certificate Viewer."

Night Light and new power management settings coming soon

In related news, the Chrome OS team is also experimenting with revamped sign-in and lock screens for Chrome OS, as well as a new Night Light feature that promises to improve our sleep and reduced strain on the eyes by limiting the amount of blue light emitted by the display of our Chromebook devices.

It also looks like Google's Chrome OS team will be adding new power management features that let us control the behavior of our Chromebook when the lid is closed or when it's idle for a specified amount of time. These and many other features are available in the Chrome Canary experimental channel.

Meanwhile, recent reports reveal the fact that Google is working a new Chromebook flagship called "Eve", which could ship with fingerprint support and other goodies. Check the gallery below to see the new Certificate section in action or visit the latest Google+ post by François Beaufort.
