A few moments ago, Google promoted its latest Chrome 62 release to Android devices, giving users a heads up of what to expect the next time they update their favorite web browser.

Google Chrome 62 was promoted last week to the stable channel for Mac, GNU/Linux, and Windows devices, a rather smaller update that introduces a more aggressive "Not secure" warning for websites that are still using the HTTP protocol instead of the more secure HTTPS one, along with support for OpenType Variable Fonts.

Chrome 62 also adds a new Payment Request API for Chrome for iOS, improves the network information API by implementing network quality indicators, and adds the ability to capture and process media streams from HTMLMediaElements using the Media Capture from the DOM elements API.

Chrome 62 for Android introduces faster downloads

Now Chrome 62 is ready for Android devices, rolling out to the Google Play store during the next few of weeks, and it introduces faster downloads of files, the ability to view and copy your saved Chrome passwords when your device is locked, as well as to quickly see your data savings when "Data Saver" is enabled.

"Good news, everyone! Chrome 62 (62.0.3202.66) for Android has been released and will be available on Google Play over the course of the next few weeks.  This release contains performance and stability fixes, as well as a few new features," Estelle Yomba in today's announcement.

Of course, this release also contains various small improvements and bug fixes that should add an extra layer of stability and reliability to Chrome. Google Chrome 62 is a recommended update for all Android users, so make sure that you update your devices as soon as the new version arrives in Google Play Store.
