14 DAY TRIAL // Not so long ago, Samsung’s purported Z3 smartphone, the second one in its lineup to take advantage of Tizen OS, has been spotted on the Indian import/export website Zauba.
We’ve been hearing that Samsung is apparently gearing up to launch a bunch of new Tizen smartphones, and one of them is going to be the Z3, which oddly will be the successor of the Z1, the first Tizen handset ever.
Anyway, if you are curious to see what the Z3 will end up looking like, Korean website Tizen Café has just posted a bunch of photos allegedly showing this exact model.
The photos showcase the device running Tizen OS 3.0, although we’re being told that at launch the handset will be equipped with Tizen OS 2.4 out of the box. The 3.0 update will probably be made available shortly after the product is unleashed on the market.
The Z1 made a debut into the wild with a 4-inch display, but obviously, the Z3 will offer a larger form factor, probably of the 5-inch variety.
What should we expect from the Z3?
Previous leaks seem to indicate that the phone will arrive with a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports HD (720p) resolution, which is another improvement compared to Z1’s 480 x 800 pixel res.
The Z3 is also expected to arrive with a more powerful 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (microSD card for memory expansion will also become available).
The Samsung Z3 will feature an 8MP main camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, whereas on the front we’re going to see a 5MP secondary camera. Everything on board will be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery.
Given the fact that the Z3 already popped up in the Indian database Zauba, we can speculate that the phone will be announced soon in India for an affordable price. It remains to be seen if Samsung plans to expand the availability options of the phone to include new territories.
It will eventually have to if the company wants to see its homegrown operating system gain more popularity in the mobile environment.
