Yesterday was an important day for Motorola, as the company unleashed its smartphone lineup for 2015, which includes a new version of its budget-friendly Moto G handset.
As expected, Motorola has updated the specs of the phone compared to the 2014 version and has added some extra bonuses to sweeten the deal. So if you have missed our earlier scoop on the Motorola Moto G (2015), we’re taking the opportunity to walk you through all the major new features you can expect to find onboard the phone.
Moto Maker
Perhaps one of the most anticipated additions to the Moto G has nothing to do with hardware improvements, but is all about cosmetics.
Until now, only owners of the Moto X were allowed to use the customization services of Moto Maker, which allowed them to have a say on the final appearance of their phone. Well, now, the customization powers of Moto Maker have been expanded in order to embrace the Moto G as well.
IPX7 certification
The previous generation Moto G featured a splash resistance, to make sure a few drops of water didn’t end up harming the device. This year, however, Motorola is taking things to the next level and has added IPX7 certification to the phone.
This means the new handset is able to handle being immersed in up to 3 feet / 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes. So if you drop your phone in the bath tub and quickly take it out, it should be fine and dandy afterwards.

Quick Capture
Found something interesting to capture? Well, with the third-gen Moto G, you’ll only have to take out your phone, flicker your wrist, and you’ll get to start the camera app. This works even with the smartphone being asleep and everything.
Quick Capture was a feature that was previously available only for Moto X users, but not anymore.
Dual-tone LED flash
The Moto G (2015) now features a 13MP main camera with dual-tone LED flash, IR filter and f/2.0 aperture. The dual-tone flash means the shooter takes advantage of two flashes - one cold and one warm - which aim to provide a more balanced lightning.
64-bit chipset
As opposed to the previous Moto G, the newcomer features a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset. As most smartphones being launched today, the new Moto G is abiding by the 64-bit standard.
Two variants - one with 1GB of RAM and one with 2GB of RAM
This year, Motorola is offering two versions of the Moto G (2015). One will ship out to customers with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, while the other will have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
It’s the first time we see the Moto G jump over the 1GB of RAM threshold.
