Now that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is official, all eyes are on the iPhone 8, which Apple is expected to unveil as soon as September.

The number of rumors concerning the iPhone 8 is growing at a super-fast pace, and today we get an insight into the price tags that Apple has in mind for the new devices.

As we’ve told you so many times before, the iPhone 8 will represent a substantial upgrade over the current models, as it’ll come not only with an OLED screen, but also with more breaking upgrades like wireless charging, fast charging, and facial recognition.

All of these, however, will come at a price, as the NYT reports via sources that asked not to be named that the base model will cost no less than $999. This means that you’ll have to pay a thousand dollars for the iPhone 8 with 64GB storage, while an extra $100 should be added for every storage increase.

$1,200 price tag for top iPhone 8

This means the 256GB version should cost $1,099, while the top-of-the-range 512GB model, which is still uncertain at this point, could cost $1,199. This aligns with previous reports that the iPhone 8 could cost somewhere around $1,200 when it hits the market, and also confirms that Apple’s new model will be a very expensive piece of technology.

The iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, which are also projected to hit the shelves next month, are likely to retain the price tags of the current generation. The iPhone 7 starts at $649 with 32GB and goes up to $849 with 256GB, while the Plus model is available at prices ranging between $769 and $969.

All details about the new iPhones will be unveiled in just a few weeks, as Apple is expected to take the wraps off the updated lineup in mid-September. The iPhone 8, however, is likely to become available for purchase later this year due to supply issues with a number of parts, including the OLED panels manufactured by Samsung.
