It has been almost two weeks since Samsung announced a global recall of the Galaxy Note 7 and it seems that incidents involving the smartphone model continue to surface. Unfortunately, the incidents are becoming more and more severe.

The most recent involves a car catching fire on the highway. Apparently, the whole incident was caught on camera by Sharon Cain, who posted it on her Facebook account, according to WPBF.

The driver of the car, Clifford Samuels, stated that he was charging his Galaxy Note 7 on the passenger seat, when the smartphone suddenly blew up. He blames the whole incident, which happened at about 8p.m., on the smartphone.

The authorities are currently investigating the incident

When the car caught fire, Samuels was driving at Crosstown Highway and California Street in Port St. Lucie. Firefighters are still investigating the incident, which seems to be one of the most severe involving a Galaxy Note 7, considering that the phone caught fire in a moving car.

Another similar incident was reported a few days ago, when a Jeep caught fire while a Galaxy Note 7 unit was charging inside. No one was in the car at the time and, fortunately, the owner of the vehicle wasn't hurt.

Samsung has urged Note 7 owners on numerous occasions to power off their smartphones and return them. The exchange program offers them a Galaxy J phone as a replacement until new and safe Note 7 units arrive. Users can also choose to receive a full refund. The FCC has even warned passengers to power off their Note 7 units and not charge them while on airplanes, for fear of incidents.

In addition, New Yorkers are advised to power off their phones while using public transportation in the city. Samsung will start shipping safe Galaxy Note 7 units in multiple countries around the world starting September 19.
