Good news today for users of the Chakra GNU/Linux distribution, as they can now update their KDE Plasma desktop environments to the latest KDE Plasma 5.11.1 point release.

The KDE Plasma 5.11 desktop environment was released only two weeks ago, and it already arrived on a number of GNU/Linux distribution, but now Chakra GNU/Linux users can install it too, the latest version of packages being 5.11.1.

The KDE Plasma 5.11.2 maintenance update arrive today as well, but it could take a while until it hits the repositories of Chakra GNU/Linux, which now contain the latest KDE Applications 17.08.2 and KDE Frameworks 5.39.0 software stacks.

"The highlight of this upgrade is the availability of the brand new Plasma 5.112 series," said Neofytos Kolokotronis in today's announcement. "As usual with major Plasma releases, we ship the first bug fix release which is out one week after the initial one."

X.Org Server 1.19.5 and Qt 5.9.2 now available in Chakra GNU/Linux

Besides receiving all the latest KDE goodies, Chakra GNU/Linux users can also update the X.Org Server display server to version 1.19.5, the Qt application framework to version 5.9.2, and the xf86-video-intel graphics driver for Intel GPUs to the 2.99.917+779+g2100efa release.

The exiv2 0.26 update is available as well in the Chakra GNU/Linux repositories, but users are informed that they will likely need to rebuild any CCR packages they might have that depend on this exiv2 version.

Last but not least, Chakra GNU/Linux is now fully patched against the infamous WPA2 KRACK security vulnerability with the wpa_supplicant 2.6-2 update, which is available for installation from the default repos.

Therefore, we recommend updating your Chakra GNU/Linux installation as soon as possible to receive all the package updates mentioned above and patch against that nasty WPA2 bug. Simply run the "sudo pacman -Syu" command to update your system.
