14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese company Lenovo introduced the Vibe S1 last year, and it looks like the smartphone has been successful enough to convince the handset maker a sequel would be worthy for its sales.
The newly announced Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite is not a sequel to the Vibe S1, but it's a slight downgrade version that offers more than decent specs for less than $200.
The new Vibe S1 Lite has been one day ahead of CES 2016, but we can safely assume the smartphone will be showcased at the trade fair.
Lenovo's mid-range Android smartphone will be available for purchase in the next couple of months for only $199 outright.
The Chinese company has yet to disclose which country will get the Vibe S1 Lite first, but the smartphone should be available in most countries where Lenovo sells its products.
13MP camera and 5-inch FHD display
Moving on to specs, Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite has been confirmed to ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. We also expect the smartphone to receive a Marshmallow upgrade later this year, but the information hasn't been confirmed yet.
The Vibe S1 Lite sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
On the inside, the mid-range handset comes equipped with a 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.
Also, Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite packs 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.
There's also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features phase detection autofocus, dual-tone LED flash, BSI sensor and video recording. The Vibe S1 Lite has a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front that features Sony sensor, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.
As expected, Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite offers both 4G LTE and Hybrid dual-SIM support, as well as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS with AGPS support. The smartphone is powered by a 2,700 mAh non-removable battery.
