The number 4 is considered unlucky in China

We've just got the OnePlus 3T, an incremental upgrade of the OnePlus 3, but that doesn't prevent us from talking about the Chinese company's next flagship smartphone.

Despite the fact that many of you probably expect the Chinese company to launch the OnePlus 4 next year, according to a new report, that might never happen.

In Chinese culture, the number 4 is seen as bad luck, which is one of the reasons OnePlus might avoid launching a smartphone with this number. Obviously, this means that the next flagship coming in 2017 will be called OnePlus 5, thus skipping the OnePlus 4 name.

But that's not the only piece of information that we've got about OnePlus' upcoming flagship. Apparently, the Chinese handset maker plans to replace the aluminum body of the phone with a ceramic one.

Unfortunately, that might not be such a good idea considering the Xiaomi Mi Mix is so prone to shattering. Still, the resistance of the ceramic coating the OnePlus 5 body will highly depend on the manufacturing process and overall design, which is why the news isn't worrisome for now.

According to reports coming from China, the company that provided the ceramic body for the Xiaomi Mi Mix manufacture has confirmed that OnePlus is one of its new clients. That's why there's a high chance the next OnePlus smartphone will feature a ceramic body.

Also, sources in the industry claim that metal bodies are bad conductors for 5G signals, which is why many handset makers will adopt ceramic instead. Even though 5G networks aren't that widespread across the globe, it won't be long until it becomes a standard.

The OnePlus 5 might not be the company's first ceramic smartphone, as that title belongs to the OnePlus X, which was launched last year.

As far as specs go, the OnePlus 5 will certainly ship with Android Nougat on board, but it might retain the 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display. We're still not sure whether or not the Chinese company will finally adopt Quad HD resolution for its panels, though.

Other than that, there's nothing really certain about the OnePlus 5, so let's not make any assumptions until we get more information from multiple sources.
