The ClearFoundation has just revealed that the ClearOS Community and Professional editions of this Linux distribution have been upgraded to version 6.7.0, and they are now ready for download and upgrade.

The previous release in this branch of the ClearOS distribution was released all the way back in February 2015, so it's been almost a year. The developers have moved past this particular branch, and they are already at 7.1.0, but they are still providing support for the older version. It's not a big update, and it only comes with a few minor fixes.

Users of ClearOS don't have to upgrade just yet, but that moment is approaching fast. The developers have already stated that this branch of the OS is now in extended maintenance, and no new features will be added. To be fair, it's not like a ton of improvements have landed so far, but it's a clear signal the users should start considering upgrading to newer versions.

ClearOS 6.7.0 is all about the fixes

“ClearOS 6.7.0 has been released for both Community and Professional Editions. Now that ClearOS 7 is available, the ClearOS 6 release series has entered maintenance mode. Security and bug fixes will continue to be released,” reads the official announcement.

According to the changelog, the access control for non-root users no longer works only on port 81, the Linux kernel has been upgraded to version 2.6.32-573.1.1.el6 (straight from upstream), latest Dropbox CLI has been implemented, and the repo policy has been upgraded to the final release.

A complete changelog with all the new features can be found in the official announcement, and it includes everything that's been modified until now. You can download ClearOS Community 6.7.0 right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that it's not a live CD, and you have to install it. You can also check out the newer and improved 7.1.0 version of the OS.
