Vodafone Australia says “W10M testing is complete”

Microsoft’s not saying anything about the release date of Windows 10 Mobile, but carriers around the world have already started the testing process of the new operating system, and some have even completed it.

Case in point is Vodafone Australia, who says that Windows 10 Mobile testing was completed more than one month ago, but it’s still “awaiting confirmation of rollout schedule.” This means that Microsoft needs to give its go-ahead for the rollout to begin, so unless this happens, all devices in Vodafone Australia’s network will continue to run Windows Phone.

According to their device lineup, the devices that will get the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade as part of the first wave will be Lumia 640, 640 XL, 735, and 930. While seeing all these four models on this list is not at all surprising, it certainly is unexpected that devices such as the “affordable flagship” Lumia 830 and the “true flagship” Lumia 1520 are not there. They could be included in the second wave of upgrades, though.

New Windows 10 Mobile builds coming

And while Microsoft keeps the release cycle of Windows 10 Mobile secret, the company continues the work on preview builds, and a new one is expected to be offered to participating insiders next week.

Very little is known about what will be included in these coming updates for Windows 10 Mobile testers, but at this point, the company is all about fixing bugs and improving performance, especially because it plans to debut the Windows Phone upgrade version soon.

Furthermore, Redmond’s continuously enhancing the upgrade experience from Windows Phone to Windows 10 Mobile and is encouraging insiders to give it a try by restoring their devices with WRDT and then upgrading back to Windows 10 Mobile. This is critical to make sure that all Windows Phone models will be able to upgrade flawlessly when the button for the release is finally pushed.
