Cara Delevigne is one of the most successful, in-demand models of the day but she feels like that’s not her true calling. She wants to branch out into acting and music, because she thinks modeling is killing her soul.

And she’s convinced that, if she’s given enough roles, she’s got what it takes to win an Oscar for Best Actress, she tells the New York Times in an interview for “Paper Towns.”

You can see a trailer for the film below. It’s her first high-profile acting job and she will follow it up with appearances in “Suicide Squad” and “Pan,” both major studio productions.

“Paper Towns” is a John Green adaptation and should make Cara popular with the young-adult segment of the movie-going public. It will be her foot through the acting door - and towards that golden Oscar statuette.

In the interview, Cara says she would rather not do a movie if she’s only cast for her name, and that she turned down many roles that were trying to typecast her. She wants meaty roles in movies that actually mean something, not to just check “acting” on her resume.

“People can put you in whatever box: model, whatever,” she says. “But if I just keep going and actually do it well, which I hope I can, then I hope people will give me more movies - and I’ll win an Oscar!”

She’s yet to prove herself to critics and the members of the Academy, but having the right attitude is always a good first step in the right direction.
