Canonical will take its Ubuntu suite of distros, especially Ubuntu Snappy Core and other various products and will present them at the Dell World event that will take place in Austin, Texas, between October 20-22, 2015.

Canonical and Dell have had a long and fruitful relationship, so it's not really a surprise that Canonical will be present at the Dell World event in Austin, Texas. The star of the show for Canonical will be Ubuntu Core for Dell IoT gateways, a new type of technology that was introduced only a few months ago. The IoT world is getting much more crowded, and Canonical intends to stay on top with its Ubuntu Snappy Core that is built specifically for such devices.

IoT is an acronym for the Internet of Things and describes a new category of devices that are smart enough to connect to the Internet and can receive commands and even apps. It's a new field, and it's only now getting some Steam, but it's slowly happening. In fact, Ubuntu has been used to power a smart fridge, so a dedicated IoT gateway is not all that far out.

"This fifth annual event of its kind presents a forum for businesses to showcase how emerging technologies can transform their businesses through mobility, security, cloud, big data and the internet of things. The Canonical team will be on hand at booth #1011 showcasing and demoing the power of snappy Ubuntu Core in partnership with CloudPlugs and Flowthings.io. We’ll be demoing how easy it is to use snappy Ubuntu Core with Dell IoT gateways and their software for solutions in building automation, industrial automation, smart cities, and energy applications," said Amrisha Prashar, a Campaign and Social Media Manager at Canonical.

Ubuntu Snappy Core 15.04 is already out, and it's been updated quite a lot in the past few months. Users can download it right now from the official Ubuntu servers, as amd64+generic and armhf+bbb images.
