14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier today, October 2, Canonical's David Planella sent his report on the work done by the Ubuntu Community Team in the week that just passed, informing us all about many great things from the Ubuntu world.
According to Mr. Planella, the winners of the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase contest have been selected, and the default wallpapers of Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) uploaded to the official repositories. Unfortunately, we have no idea if these new wallpapers will also land in the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system, which will be pretty cool if you ask us.
Furthermore, the coordination of the Ubuntu @ SCALE is still ongoing, the Pilot tool for allowing members of the Ubuntu community to participate in the testing of the Ubuntu Touch mobile OS has been launched, a lot of work has been done for the Ubuntu Developer website, which includes an updated Django branch, updated Landing page, and new API documentation for the Ubuntu SDK 15.04.1 framework.
Here's what's new for Ubuntu Touch's core apps
In the week that just passed, the Ubuntu Touch developers managed to add various new features and fix annoying bugs for the core apps. For example, the File Manager app received some attention and some bugs were plugged, the Dekko email client got some convergence features, and a lot of work was done for the LibreOffice Docviewer app, which currently is not working as expected, but it will soon.
In the same good news, the File Manager app will receive a revamped user interface in the coming weeks. Last but not least, David Planella talks about Snappy, and reports that the snapcraft 0.2 tool now works on Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), the Snappy App Developer manual has been reviewed, an examples tour was added to snapcraft's documentation, and the Digest Snappy developer survey landed.
