Canonical, through Jorge O. Castro, is proud to announce the general availability of the latest Kubernetes stable release in the company's specifically crafted software repositories for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus).

Kubernetes 1.5.2 is the newest and most advanced version of the open-source and production-grade container orchestration tool that lets DevOps scale, manage, and deploy containerized applications. Canonical's distribution of Kubernetes is a pure, untouched version.

"This is a pure upstream distribution of Kubernetes, designed to be easily deployable to public clouds, on-premise (ie [VMware] vSphere, OpenStack), bare metal, and developer laptops. Kubernetes 1.5.2 is a patch release comprised of mostly bugfixes," reads the announcement.

Here's how to install Kubernetes 1.5.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

We have some good news for you if you've been waiting to upgrade or install Kubernetes 1.5.2 on your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system. Just by running the commands listed below, you'll be able to enjoy the latest Kubernetes release in minutes.

sudo snap install conjure-up --classic
conjure-up
Please keep in mind that you'll be asked, during installation of conjure-up (after running the third command above), what cloud you want to deploy, so make sure that you enter the proper credentials. Canonical is also providing you with an in-depth tutorial if you're deploying to local containers (LXD).

If you don't remove the PPA (Personal Package Archives) that will be installed when you execute the first two commands above from your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS system, you'll automatically receive future stabilization and bugfix releases of Kubernetes. Please read the Canonical Distribution of Kubernetes documentation if you're deploying in production environments.
