Space VR is your best chance ever of actually being in space

It isn't exactly putting you in space with all the horrific and exciting details such an expensive journey would mean, but it will allow users of Space VR to see a 360 degrees panorama within the International Space Station observation cupola.

However, what Space VR hopes to do is offer its clients a one and only experience of a very special effect called The Overview Effect. Basically, what it does is change human mentalities of how we see ourselves and our planet and how fragile we really are in the immense space that surrounds us.

Apparently, it is quite difficult for people seeing the sky from the Earth's surface to realize how small the blue pebble we are sitting on is and how much the Overview Effect will change our understanding of the world and our place in the entire cosmos.

To achieve this, the team behind SpaceVR wants to send a couple of Go-Pro cameras, that should be placed inside a frame suited for a vacuum environment and be printed aboard the ISS. However, they need the money for this.

To reach such a cost, they started a Kickstarter campaign to raise about half a million dollars to rent a flight of those cameras to the ISS and more money to actually get the set printed on the ISS, plus any extra unpredicted expenses. To encourage doing this, all those that have contributed to the project will receive posters, early access to the footage and a cardboard VR kit for those that do not have a virtual reality headset, in order to see everything on their smartphone.

It's exciting to see how efforts are made for people to experiment space in a financially sensitive way, even though many of us will probably never get there during our lives.
