Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is poised to be one of the biggest video game launches of the year, and before the title arrives on November 6, the development team at Treyarch and publisher Activision seem determined to introduce gamers to all the core elements of the first-person shooter.

After focusing on the single-player campaign with a number of videos, the two companies are now offering fans a chance to see the full intro for the coming Shadows of Evil cooperative mode, which is centered around undead enemies.

The footage introduces the characters played by Hollywood actors Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman.

Treyarch is also offering some details about the world that they will explore in Shadows of Evil, with a mysterious figure explaining how the four need to work together to reach redemption and escape the threat of the undead.

The development team is known for its love of zombie-based action and the new mode is the most complex one it has created, using a noir version of the 1940s as a contrast to the vision of the future shown in the classic single-player, which takes place in 2065.

Treyarch has taken advantage of the new three-year development cycle for the Call of Duty series in order to create three distinct experiences with some cool, unique selling points that will attract different types of players.

Activision aims to deliver more info on Shadows of Evil before the shooter is officially launched.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 opens up all campaign missions from the start

Treyarch says it is trying to make sure that gamers can experience those elements of the shooter that they love, which means that no one should have to play the single-player in order to see the story if they are not interested in doing so.

By opening up the entire campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 from the start, the studio makes it easy for gamers to select the missions that the community has been talking about or which contain the most interesting narrative elements.

For the first time in years, the entire experience also runs from one executable which, Treyarch says, will make it easier to track player behavior and to make sure that they get rewards for trying out all the core modes of the shooter.

The multiplayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been tweaked, with the advances in tech meaning that gamers will have exo-skeletons that offer more mobility than ever and increase the dynamic nature of each battle.

The development team is also introducing Specialists, who have one unique weapon and power, in order to give gamers a simple way to jump right into the battle without having to extensively tweak their characters.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 can be played on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on November 6.

There are also versions for older home consoles, but they do not feature the single-player campaign because of a number of technical limitations.
