The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PS4 beta stage has just received a comprehensive update that adds all sorts of new elements to the multiplayer test phase, from a new map, to a new mode, a special robot, not to mention an upgraded level cap of 34.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 may be scheduled to appear in November, but developer Treyarch wants to ensure that the multiplayer mode works as intended in real-world conditions. As such, the studio launched a special beta on the PS4 platform earlier this week, while the PC and Xbox One versions are going to debut next week.

After sharing a few details about the next update for the PS4 beta earlier today, Treyarch has actual launched the patch and shares on the official website more information about what's included in it.

New map, mode, level cap, and mechanic are available

First up, there's a brand-new level cap of 34, replacing the original 28 limitation, as Treyarch wants more information about how players progress through the actual ranks. There's also a brand-new map called Stronghold, taking players to a Swiss chateau in the frozen Alps. The new level joins the three existing ones – Combine, Hunted, and Evac.

There's also a new mode in the form of the classic Uplink. Two teams race to send a satellite into the enemy's goal. The fan favorite experience is available on all maps.

Last but not least, as a special surprise for fans, Treyarch is adding through this update an all-new Specialist character in the form of the Reaper. The menacing character is actually a robot whose arm can transform into a mini-gun. The experimental robot also wields an ability called Psychosis that creates three decoy clones to make it harder to take out.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PS4 multiplayer beta concludes on August 23, so make sure you try it out while you can.
