The multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is at the moment live for all those who have a PlayStation 4 home console and have managed to get access to one of the required codes, with the testing period starting a little ahead of the official time originally announced by Treyarch and Activision.

Gamers can redeem their codes and then download the game files before jumping into matches that feature all the core mechanics of the first-person shooter, with a variety of modes and three maps featured.

The development team at Treyarch is ready to offer a few more tips for those who are aiming to perform well, with a focus on the changes that have been made since previous titles in the franchise.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 says the new movement system has been designed to offer more fluidity and to give those who master it an advantage during combat.

The team states, "For veteran Call of Duty players, unlimited sprint is sure to be the most immediately recognizable change. Rather than brief bursts of speed, the pace is always high - allowing for quick, decisive movement through the map and into (or out of) engagements."

A new thrust jump will allow gamers to reach new areas and to wall run, and deploying a crouch can turn a movement into a power slide.

Specialists tweak the standard Call of Duty formula

The new characters, created specifically for the multiplayer mode, each comes complete with a unique weapon and power, which gamers need to choose before a match starts.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is offering four of them to all gamers who play the beta and, as they level up, another four are added.

Gamers will have to develop a way to choose the best Specialist based on the map and the mode they are playing, something that will probably take more than the testing period to figure out.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta is also allowing gamers to use the Gunsmith and the Paint Shop, which gives them a lot of options when it comes to customization.

Once the PlayStation 4 testing period is done, the same content will also be offered on the Xbox One and on the PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be launched on all these platforms as well as older home consoles on November 6.
