If you're an avid book reader, then you must have the Calibre open-source and cross-platform ebook library management software installed on your persona computer to sync books to your e-reader.

Developer Kovid Goyal today announced a new version, Calibre 3.3, which adds a few improvements to the user experience and fixes a bunch of bugs. For example, the Quickview panel was updated to allow users to open and close it through a the Layout button in the bottom right corner.

In the same manner, the Book Details panel was updated as well to allow users search for books by the author on Amazon just by right-clicking on an author's name, and the Comments editor dialog now features a new button that lets you easily insert separators like a < hr > tag when editing comments.

Improved news sources, bug fixes

Apart from the above UX improvements, Calibre 3.3 updates the Edit Book component to implement a "Show details" button on the result dialog when performing either a "Replace all" or "Count all" action with multiple searches to display individual counts for each search.

Multiple bugs were fixed in Calibre 3.3 to improve the Browser Viewer, DOCX Input, Server, and Conversion components, as well as the Amazon metadata download and ISBNDB metadata download plugins, and the Politico, The Times, and The Sunday Times Magazine news sources were improved, too.

You can download Calibre 3.3 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website if you want to install or update the current Calibre version you're running on your computer, which is what we recommend to do right away after reading this article.
