Calibre developer Kovid Goyal released this weekend yet another maintenance update to his popular, free, cross-platform and open source ebook library management software for all supported operating systems.

Calibre 2.85 arrived on Friday, May 12, 2017, exactly one week after Calibre 2.84, bringing an updated Kobo driver that now supports the recently unveiled Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2 eReader device, along with a bunch of new features like the ability to right-click on the Book Details panel to search the Internet for the current ebook or other works by that author.

Another enhancement implemented in the Book Details panel is the ability to search Goodreads by default instead of Wikipedia when clicking on an author's name. This setting is customizable and can be easily changed if you go into Preferences -> Look & feel -> Book details and choose a different provider.

Bug fixes, improved and new news sources

Calibre 2.85 also comes with a bunch of bug fixes improving PDF Output, DOCX Output, Comic Input, and the Kobo driver among other components. But a day later, on May 13, Kovid Goyal released Calibre 2.85.1 to fix a regression that caused the "Open with" action to disappear from the right-click menu of the Book Details panel.

Notable bug fixes include support for hyperlinks in Word when a bookmark's name is longer than 40 characters, better PDF conversion, and the implementation of an error message in Preferences -> Toolbars when the user tries to remove either the Preferences or Location Manager buttons. Check the attached changelog for details.

Other than that, it looks like Calibre 2.85 introduces Balkanist by Darko Miletic as a news source and improves support for the Private Eye news source. You can download Calibre 2.85.1 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website if you want to update your installation.
