Today, October 14, 2016, Calibre developer Kovid Goyal proudly announced the release and immediate availability of the Calibre 2.70 ebook library management software for all supported platforms.

Calibre 2.70 comes two weeks after the release of Calibre 2.69, and it promises two new features. First, there is a new tool implemented in the Edit Book component and designed to let users download external resources, such as stylesheets or images, that aren't included in a book.

The second feature added in the Calibre 2.70 release is support for custom columns in the Manage Categories sub menu of the Alter Tag Browser function. Also new is the implementation of the Various Danish news source, which has been submitted by Allan Simonsen.

Bug fixes, improved news sources

As expected, several issues reported by users from previous releases of Calibre have been addressed in today's update, which we recommend to anyone using Calibre 2.69 or another version. The most important bug fix is support for new Amazon website changes in the Amazon Store plugins.

Additionally, it looks like searching for books by ISBN using the ozon.ru metadata download plugin works again, there are two minor regressions fixed for the Edit Book feature, and the Conversion functionality should now correctly process styles in HTML files located in a folder level above the OPF file.

Last but not least, the Wired, Las Vegas Review, San Jose Mercury News, InfoWorld, DziennikBaltycki, Ambito, dwutygodnik,  Journal Gazette, TVN24, Instapaper, biweekly, GRY Online, South China Morning Post, ESO, JPost, Marietta Daily Journal, and many other news sources received improvements.

Below, we've attached the full changelog for those of you who want to know what exactly has been fixed in the Calibre 2.70 maintenance release, which you can download right now for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems via our website.
