A small update that adds multiple improvements

Kovid Goyal released yet another weekly update for his popular cross-platform, open-source Calibre ebook library management software for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

Calibre 2.68 is now the latest stable version of the application, but it's not as big as expected when it comes to new features. In fact, the only new functionality implemented in Calibre 2.68 is an option in the Preferences -> Tweaks setting to allow users to have control over the list of servers the app uses as public email servers.

The rest of the changes included in Calibre 2.68 are bug fixes, for all sort of issues reported by users since last week's Calibre 2.67 release of previous versions. Fixes for a regression with the connect server that didn't allow OPDS feeds to work correctly and a book author validation problem have been included.

Improved sources, more bug fixes

In addition to the bug fixes mentioned above, Calibre 2.68 comes with a user-friendly error message for failures that occur when the temp dir is created, better support for reading metadata from PDF documents, as well as small improvements to the Get Books features, and the ebook conversion functionality.

As expected, several news sources have been updated in this new Calibre release, including  El Universal,  Punto Informatico, and  Respekt Magazine. To enjoy Calibre 2.68 on your personal computers, make sure that you download the binary packages for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now via our website.

Below, we've attached the full changelog for Calibre 2.68, just in case you're very curious about the bugs fixed. Also, you can get the source code of Calibre by clicking on the "GNU/Linux" download link above, in case you want to hack it and tweak the application for your custom hardware/devices.
