14 DAY TRIAL // Today, July 1, 2016, Calibre developer Kovid Goyal has been happy to announce the general availability of yet another maintenance release for his popular, open-source and cross-platform Calibre ebook library management software.
Coming only one week after the debut of Calibre 2.60, the Calibre 2.61 maintenance update brings only two new features. These are an updated driver with new firmware to allow users to connect their FNAC (BQ) eReader devices, as well as support for automatic removal of all links from a missing resource (the option is available in the Check Book component under Edit Book).
Other than that, Calibre 2.61 improves the Kleine Zeitung, derStandard, and Kurier news sources, and fixes several issues reported by users since last week's Calibre 2.60 release. For example, the are several improvements to the new Qt 5.7 GUI toolkit to offer users out-of-the-box mouse wheel scrolling support.
A regression has been patched in the Kobo driver
Moreover, it looks like there was a regression in the Kobo driver, which didn't allow users to connect some older devices (it's now fixed). The Legimi plugin in the "Get Books" component apparently broke the detection of book formats due to a change in the upstream website, so this issue has been fixed as well in Calibre 2.61.
Last but not least, it is now possible to run the Calibre binary in GNU/Linux operating systems that use an older version of the GLibc library (GNU C Library) with a fully functional "Ebook Viewer" component, and the ozon.ru metadata source has been updated to support the latest upstream website changes.
