The developer has released a small update for the app

The Calibre application has been updated once more, and the developer has made a number of small changes and fixes. This is an app that can be used to read, convert, and manage eBook files, and its functionality can be enhanced further with plugins.

None of the previous updates that have landed in the last few months for Calibre has brought any new features, with very few small exceptions. The last major feature added to Calibre was the ability to edit eBooks, but that was a while ago. On the other hand, this is already a very complex piece of software, and it's difficult to keep everything working from one release to another.

This application has a very large community supporting it, and it's easy to understand why. It's the only application out there with all of these capabilities. In fact, many of the features and changes that are made almost on a weekly basis are coming from community suggestions, and the developer is all too happy to implement them as soon as possible.

Calibre 2.34 is out and ready for download

Calibre has a lot of moving parts and a lot of components that need to be upgraded. Many of its functions depend on other services. For example, if Amazon decides to change the way it's displaying books, Calibre needs to be upgraded too.

According to the changelog, support has been added for amazon.nl, an option not to add the generated catalog to the library has been implemented, performance of hyphenation has been improved (by updating the version of the hyphenation library it uses), DOCX support has been added for text whose vertical position is adjusted by offsets from the baseline, and the length and percentage values for vertical-align in the input DOCX document are now handled properly.
