The company will solve problems as quickly as possible

Bungie implemented a significant maintenance period for Destiny last week and gamers were forced to deal with problems with both access to the social shooter and with a lack of rewards from the Iron Banner event for about one day.

But the development team says that the problems, which have annoyed some gamers, are necessary as the company is getting ready for the future of the title, probably in order to make sure that the next major expansion is deployed quickly and without any major problems.

The official Weekly Update states, "We’re planning for the future here, and that means rearranging some of the furniture behind the scenes. Sometimes, that resulted in a stubbed toe we didn’t anticipate. When the Iron Banner issue came to light – thanks to your feedback from the front – we worked to restore Lord Saladin to his former state of generosity."

Since the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny was launched two hotfixes were launched for the shooter, one dealing with issues with Prison of Elders and another for Trials of Osiris.

Presumably more maintenance periods are coming, and gamers should report problems as quickly as possible to make sure that they get solved by Bungie relatively quickly.

The Taken King is coming on September 15 with a lot of new content

The development team has said that gamers should consider the new expansion as an entirely new game because it will introduce a wide range of tweaks to the core elements of Destiny.

There are three new subclasses that gamers can use to create more balanced teams and to gain new capabilities.

A new big enemy, called Oryx, is the focus for a new major end-game raid and his big dreadnought will be an entirely new huge location, with new rules for both exploration and loot gathering.

Destiny is also getting access to more strikes and the ones that were initially reserved for gamers who used Sony platforms will be offered for all players, with changed mechanics linked to the Taken theme.

Guardians will also get access to more weapons and items that can be used to improve their Guardians as they seek to hit the new level cap.

Bungie will offer more details about rewards for Destiny veterans on July 7, making sure that they do not feel slighted by the company.
