Video game developer Bungie was busy dealing with a number of problems linked to Destiny this week but the studio has also found time to deliver more information about the coming The Taken King expansion and the ways it will improve the core game experience.

The new content is set to be introduced on all platforms on September 15, with gamers able to get various versions via pre-order if they want to get some rewards, like shaders and more.

In a new Weekly Update Bungie also says that The Taken King is more than simple downloadable content because it makes Destiny feel like a new game, with more details about the transformations of the core features set to come during the next two months.

During E3 2015 the company has already explained that gamers will get a new story line based around the battle with Oryx, the father of the now dead Crota, and his army.

Destiny says that cinematic cutscenes and a cast of new characters are added to the social shooter in order to expand the narrative side of the universe.

The focus for weapons and armor will be on exotic versions that can be quickly used to boost the power of a Guardian but Bungie is not yet willing to say what the new level cap will be.

The Taken King aims to redefine both single and multiplayer

Destiny has already received two expansions since launch, House of Wolves and The Dark Below, but neither had the amount of content that gamers will be able to access on September 15.

Bungie says the re-imagined strikes, Dust Palace, Undying Mind, and Cerberus Vae III, will benefit from the addition of Taken enemies while the entirely new ones will offer new ways for gamers to cooperative to get over tough challenges.

The Crucible side of Destiny will be improved with new modes, including Mayhem and Rift.

Bungie also plans to rework the economy, to improve weapon balance, tweak faction allegiances and improve the end-game experience.

The studio also says that it plans to make sure that all gamers who have stuck with the shooter since it was first introduced will get access to rewards that will acknowledge their status as a veteran, regardless of whether they get The Taken King or not.
