Nails with a bump are all the craze these days

There's a new fashion trend taking over social media and it is so bizarre it's nearly impossible to ignore. Without further ado, this latest craze is called bubble nails and it comes down to making nails look like, well, bubbles.

To get it right and not make a complete fool of yourself, first pile up balls of acrylic at the center of the nail. Then work your way to the sides and make sure that, when you're done, there's a nice bump in the middle. To top it all off, simply add a thick coating of color.

If you're not exactly gifted when it comes to DYI projects, perhaps it would be wise to visit a beauty parlor and have a trainer professional turn your nails into bubbles for you.

According to Oddity Central, you'll have to pay $10 to $15 (about €9 to €14) over the regular acrylic treatment. Then again, what's another few bucks when fashion and keeping up with the trends are at stake?

In an interview, celebrity nail artist Pattie Yankee explains that, if done right, bubble nails can last up to a month. Any longer and your fingernails might be damaged.

“If done properly it would be safe as long as it’s not worn for a long period of time. I would wear for at the most a month and then switch to a regular style,” she said.
