They dated for 8 months, broke it off amicably

So much for making plans for a secret quickie wedding in Las Vegas! Britney Spears and her boyfriend of 8 months, Charlie Ebersol, have broken up, according to reports in several media outlets.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding - or better yet, on Britney’s Instagram, which now includes no photo of Charlie. It seems that the pop star has removed all traces of the romance from her social media.

The breakup wasn’t messy

Usually, whenever a celebrity goes through the trouble of removing every mention or photo of an ex, especially if there were a lot of both, it means that the breakup is nasty.

In this particular case, it wasn’t, TMZ says. The relationship simply ran its course and the 2 decided it would be best if they called it quits.

As for Britney’s removing Charlie from her Instagram, that was probably the work of her management, who saw no reason in keeping those old photos online. Britney probably didn’t even have a say in this.

Not only was the split not messy, but it will remain as clean as possible for the weeks to come. Don’t expect Charlie to go spilling the beans on Britney and what went wrong to the tabloids anytime soon (or at all), because he signed an NDA on his first date with the pop star and it gags him, assuming he’d consider talking to the press.

The idea for the NDA comes from Britney’s father and conservator, Jamie, who put it into practice after her infamous meltdown, which also saw her dating shady paparazzi whom she did not ask to sign NDAs.

Britney still believes in her happily ever after

Britney Spears has been married twice, if we count her first Vegas quickie in 2004, which was annulled at her parents’ request.

Her marriage to former backup dancer Kevin Federline, the father of her 2 sons, lasted between 2004 and 2007 and led to the aforementioned meltdown, which was one of the most mediated and troubling dark times ever documented in a celebrity’s life.

In other words, it would have been enough to get anyone disinterested in love or at the very least, in the idea that they could get a happily ever after. But not Britney: as she said when she was engaged to Jason Trawick, her former manager, she believes she can still find a man who will be “The One” for her, whom she will marry and grow old next to.

He just wasn’t Jason. Or David Lucado. Or Charlie Ebersol.
