Softpedia was informed by The Document Foundation non-profit organization about the general availability of the new LibreOffice Extensions & Templates website.

At the end of last month, we reported on the upcoming availability of the redesigned LibreOffice Extensions & Templates website, which is currently based on the latest version of the Plone CMS, and will require extension and template contributors to have a single account for everything they need to do there. The new LibreOffice Extensions & Templates website is the work of Plone advocate and LibreOffice developer Andreas Mantke, and it features an improved design for a better user experience.

"Two of LibreOffice's most distinctive characteristics are the possibility of adding features through extensions, and improving quality and consistency of documents thanks to templates", says Andreas Mantke, deputy member of the board at The Document Foundation. "After six years, we decided to refresh the existing resource, to make it easier for developers to upload their files, and for end users to search and download them. I'd love to see an increasing number of contributors uploading extensions and templates."

Over 300 extensions and 330 templates are now available

The good news for users of the popular, open-source, and cross-platform LibreOffice office suite is that the new LibreOffice Extensions & Templates website offers them more than 30 extensions, with 678 different releases, and 339 templates, with 376 releases. These are accessible and installable for free on all supported operating systems, including GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows. And you can try them all right now from https://extensions.libreoffice.org.

The Document Foundation has compiled a list with some of the most popular extensions available there, which includes "Clipart gallery of danger signs," "Copy only visible cells" and "LanguageTool," as well as the most popular templates, including "Personal Budget Template," "Simple FAX Template" and "LibreOffice Presentation Templates." In related news, The Document Foundation announced today a new user interface concept for LibreOffice 5.3, called MUFFIN.
