The BQ Aquaris E4.5 and E5 Ubuntu editions have finally arrived in India via the Snapdeal and users should get some personalized scopes and various other localized content.

BQ is the first company that now has phones powered by Ubuntu on the Indian market and they are sold through a website called Snapdeal, which is somewhat similar with Amazon. It's the biggest online store of its kind in India, so you know that it's an important first step.

Right now, Ubuntu phones are sold all over the world, but not all the markets have been penetrated just yet. Meizu also sells its Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition in China and Europe, and BQ recently launched its two Ubuntu models in the United States. From the looks of it, things are going very well for Ubuntu Touch and it's getting more exposure every day.

BQ Aquaris E4.5 and E5 now in India

The two phones powered by Ubuntu have been around for a few months already, but the Spanish company BQ is expanding into other countries and regions. They started with just Europe, but now they cover both US and India. The only caveat is that there is no 4G support in the United States, which operates on a different frequency.

"For all in India, we’ve launched the @BQ Aquaris E4.5 and E5 Ubuntu editions via @Snapdeal. Expect an array of Indian content including a Bollywood Scope, @NDTV News and more #UbuntuPhone," wrote Canonical on Google+.

BQ Aquaris E4.5 comes with a MediaTek Quad-Core Cortex A7 at 1.3 GHz, a 4.5-inch screen, 1GB RAM, rear camera with high-quality BSI sensors, Largan lens, and autofocus with dual flash (8MP), and front camera with 5MP. It's priced in India at ₹11,999 ($179).

On the other hand, the BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition comes with a 5-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (380 cd/m2), a MediaTek quad-core Cortex A7 CPU at 1.3 GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The price for this one is ₹13,499 ($201).
