It now comes with 64-bit and Legacy ISO images

Bodhi Linux developer Jeff Hoogland is pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of the second minor update to the Bodhi Linux 4 operating system series, versioned 4.2.0.

Coming a little over four months after the release of Bodhi Linux 4.1.0, this minor update is here to add the Swami Control panel by default, upgrade the kernel packages to the Linux 4.10 series, but only on the 64-bit variant of the distribution, as well as to include all the latest security and software updates released upstream.

"This is a normal update release and it comes four months after the release of Bodhi 4.1.0," says Jeff Hoogland in the release announcement. "That being said this release does bring a few changes with it. The 64bit releases utilize the 4.10 kernel by default and the Swami Control panel is now installed by default in all the releases."

32-bit PAE ISOs are no longer available

With this release, Jeff Hoogland informs Bodhi Linux users that the 32-bit PAE ISO images have been officially dropped, and it looks like Bodhi Linux 4.2.0 is available for download only as 64-bit and Legacy images. However, the developer says that 32-bit computers running Bodhi Linux are still supported, for now.

Those wanting to install Bodhi Linux 4.2.0 on an ancient computer with a 32-bit processor would have to use the Legacy ISO image, which appears to support PAE and non-PAE systems out of the box. Also, if you want to use a PAE kernel on a 32-bit Bodhi Linux OS, you'll have to use the Legacy ISO and install the kernel from the repos.

Bodhi Linux 4.2.0 is available for download right now from our website if you want to deploy the GNU/Linux distribution on new computers, but existing users running either Bodhi Linux 4.0.0 or Bodhi Linux 4.1.0 need only to make sure all the latest updates are correctly installed. Don't forget to reboot your computer!
