Bobbi Kristina Brown, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s only daughter, has died in hospice care some hours ago. She was 22 years old and she had been in hospital with severe brain damage since January 31, 2015, when she was found face-down in the tub of her Georgia home.

The family has issued a statement to confirm Krissi’s death, thanking the millions of people around the world who had joined them in prayer in the past few months, hoping God would save her.

Bobbi Kristina has died

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family,” the statement to the media reads. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Whitney Houston’s official Facebook page has also been updated to include a touching tribute to the 22-year-old, who had great hopes of following in her mother’s footsteps in terms of launching a music career and even acting in movies and TV shows.

“It is hard to say goodbye,” the tribute reads in part.” Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully. The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. As Bobbi Kristina would say: ‘The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face’.”

Krissi had been moved into hospice care a little over a month ago, with the family saying at the time in a statement that they had tried all to help her, but her condition was too severe for modern medicine to be able to do anything for her.

Bobbi Kristina’s near-drowning and eerie comparisons to Whitney Houston’s death

In January, Krissi was found submerged in water in the home she shared with her so-called husband Nick Gordon, whom Whitney had raised as her own son without ever filing the adoption papers. They had become romantically involved shortly after the singer’s death in 2012, with the family objecting to the relationship because it felt incestuous: they had come to consider the two siblings.

Gordon is prime suspect in the ongoing police investigation trying to determine what happened on that day in January. The family believes Krissi was deprived of oxygen between 2 and 5 minutes, which translated into severe brain damage.

Paramedics managed to revive her on the scene, and she was placed in a medically induced coma upon arrival to the hospital. In the spring, doctors tried to bring her out of the coma, but she went into violent seizures.

Shortly afterwards, it became clear that all that was medically possible to do in a case like this had been done. As grandmother Cissy Houston made it clear, their only hope was that God would perform a miracle.

It never happened.

Krissi’s near-drowning accident happened about 3 years after her mother’s death, which occurred in strangely similar circumstances: on the eve of the Grammy Awards, as she was getting ready for Clive Davis’ annual party, Whitney drowned in the bathtub in her hotel room, after taking too much cocaine.

It is said that Krissi never recovered after the loss and that Gordon used that to his own advantage, plying her with drugs so he could get control over the money the singer had left her.
