14 DAY TRIAL // Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown, has been taken off life support and medication. She is now in hospice care and her fate is in “God’s hands,” her aunt Pat Houston says in a statement.
Pat is Whitney’s sister-in-law and one of the people in charge of the Whitney Houston Estate. She’s also been by Krissi’s bedside since she was hospitalized on January 31 after nearly drowning in her bathtub, and was put in a medically induced coma.
She speaks for the Houston family, and presumably for dad Bobby Brown as well.
Krissi’s “condition has continued to deteriorate”
The last time anything official on Krissi’s condition was heard, she was out of the coma but still unresponsive. Her grandmother, Whitney’s mother, told the media at the time that she had severe brain damage and might never recover to have at least a semblance of normal life, but that they were not losing hope.
At the same time, members from Bobby’s side of the family claimed in interviews that Krissi’s condition wasn’t even half as good as it was made to sound. According to them, she was still in a coma and her father insisted on keeping her on life support for as long as there was the smallest ray of hope she might survive.
Pat’s statement makes it clear that all hope is lost now.
“Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, [her] condition has continued to deteriorate,” she says, on behalf of the family, as cited by People Magazine. “As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God’s hands now.”
Nothing more can be done for Krissi
Reports online note that the family has brought in specialists from all over the country in the hope that she might still recover. Just recently, they flew in a brain specialist from Chicago and, word has it, it was this meeting that convinced them that taking her off life support and medication was the only alternative left: he told her Krissi’s case was hopeless.
Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive face down in the bathtub of the Georgia home she shared with her so-called “husband” Nick Gordon. Bobby Brown later clarified that, despite their claims to the contrary, they were never legally married.
Paramedics managed to revive her and she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. However, because she’d been deprived of oxygen for several minutes, she was put in a medically induced coma. Even then, there was talk of severe brain damage, and countless reports noted that doctors had already informed the family they had done all that was medically possible for her.
In what is probably a very strange twist of fate, Krissi’s near-drowning accident came 3 years after her mother, the famous Whitney Houston, died in similar circumstances: in a bathtub, after she had OD-ed on drugs.
